Rob Sweetland
Founder and Principal
Rob Sweetland began his career as a military officer in the United States Army. He completed both Ranger and Airborne training before deploying to the Middle East to serve twice in combat zones as a Signal Corp Officer. He managed 17 soldiers in harsh conditions and gained valuable experience as a young Army Officer. He left the military and leveraged his military leadership experience to work for Applied Materials as a Production Supervisor and to transition into the corporate world. While living in Austin, Texas, Rob was offered the opportunity to work for Dell Computer as an Operations Manager. He accepted the challenge and his responsibility grew to managing more than 20 direct reports in the Server Manufacturing Division. While working in high-volume manufacturing for Dell, Rob experimented with different employee incentives and leadership styles to achieve continuously higher team performance. Rob left Dell Computer to relocate to Houston and to attend the University of Houston (U of H) to complete his MBA. While attending U of H, Rob began working for BMC Software. There he learned all about organization development and led the delivery for numerous projects to improve organization performance and management effectiveness. Rob left BMC and spent a few years working for the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center on performance improvement projects to help various departments to improve the efficiency of their operations. Rob eventually moved into the Oil and Gas industry working for BG Group as a Regional Manager of Management Development. He provided individual coaching, assessments and development for high potential individuals and executives in North America, South America and the Caribbean. Rob joined BP in 2008 as a Talent Manager and was recognized for introducing best practices in internal deployment and talent management. He was promoted to VP HR in 2010 and performed as a strategic advisor to the Upstream Head of Function for Procurement and Supply Chain Management. Rob was accountable for all human capital management activities for a global function of more than 1,800 staff spread across 16 different countries. He managed a team of 20 professionals dispersed in 4 different countries. Rob's experience supporting BP's Upstream Supply Chain has provided him unique experience through the various reorganizations at BP. In 2016, Rob joined Aggreko as the VP of HR for North America. He gained valuable experience supporting the North American business for three years and then moved into a global role for two years as Head of Leadership Development and Talent Management. He is now fulfilling the aspiration of independent consulting to help organizations and leaders to achieve their maximum potential and deliver value to their stakeholders.
